Whitewater Rafting In Chiang Mai

Our you and your family ready for the experience of a lifetime? Whitewater rafting in Chiang Mai is one way to break away from the normal tourist routine while on holiday in Northern Thailand. When you have had enough shopping at the Chiang Mai night bazaar and have tired of the standard tour to Wat Doi Suthep, try your hand at whitewater rafting in Chiang Mai on the mighty Mae Taeng river. The river begins high in the mountains near the Burmese border. It winds through valleys and canyons which provide the setting for some fabulous rapids for your Chiang Mai adventure.

Whitewater rafting in Chiang Mai is a seasonal adventure activity. Rapids are formed as the water tumbles over rocks on its descent down the mountains. The rainy season in Thailand begins in late May or June and lasts until late October. Daily rafting tours begin as soon as the rains cause the water in the river to rise to sufficient levels. When rainy season ends, the flow of water declines and by March whitewater rafting in Chiang Mai goes on hold until the rains begin again. August through October is the best time to ride the rapids if you want the maximum thrill. Beginning paddlers may find it best to wait until later in the season after the water slows down due to lack of rain.

Unfortunately, whitewater rafting in Chiang Mai is not for young children. The tour operators do not permit paddlers under the age of ten years.
