Chiang Mai Shopping

Family holidays usually mean you return home with more items than when you left your house. Shopping for souveniors is almost a requirement for many travelers. Chiang Mai shopping lives up to all of the hype. The Chiang Mai Night Bazaar is well known for the collection of Thai handicrafts that are available at a fraction of the cost you would pay in your home country. Once you experience shopping at the Chiang Mai night bazaar, you will most likely want to go back several times before you return home.

The night bazaar has been the central focus for Chiang Mai shopping for many years now. It has also become somewhat commercialized. Chiang Mai now has several walking street markets as well. The Chiang Mai walking street craze began with the opening of the Sunday walking street located in the old part of the city. There is now a Friday walking street market and a Saturday walking street market.

The majority of the vendors at the Chiang Mai walking streets are local craftpersons trying to sell their wares for a fair price. Many of the sellers have set prices and will not bargain. However, the prices are not inflated. Bargains are available even though haggling for a better price is not part of the shopping experience on the walking streets.

In general, tourists love to shop. Chiangmai tourists love Chiangmai shopping. Souveniours are a must for any serious traveler to Chiang Mai. The Chiang Mai night bazaar and walking streets should have every type of souvenior you can imagine.
