Chiang Mai Night Safari

Chiang Mai Night Safari

The name Chiang Mai night safari can be a bit mis-leading as there are things to do and see at the safari in the day light hours too.

The Jaguar trail is a walking path which meanders around Swan lake. The lake is in the center of the Chiang Mai night safari complex. Here you can view over 50 species of animals during a daylight stroll along the 1200 meter track. Although many of the animals are common to most zoos, there are a few exotic species as well.

One example is the pair of rare white tigers, Zhaojin and his mate Lizhen. They were presented to the Chiang Mai night safari by the Xiangiang Safari Park in southern China's Guangzhou province.

The Chiang Mai night safari has two trails which are open in the evening, after sunset. The Predator Prowl offers you the chance to see a host of carnivorous animals from the safety of an open air tram car. The journey lasts about 45 minutes and a select number of the trips are narrated in English.

The Savanna Safari is filled with animals native to the African savanna, such as giraffes and wildebeasts. This trail too can only be viewed while riding in a tram. If you have never been to a night safari, then a visit to the Chiang Mai night safari is something you don't want to miss.

Admission rates and opening hours can be found at the Chiang Mai Night Safari web page.

The Chiang Mai night safari also has a resort area with several different types of overnight accomodations for your family. For more information visit the Night Safari web page.
