Chiang Mai Information
What do you want to know about Chiang Mai? Travel information for your family, right? Well, here you will find everything needed to have a fantastic family vacation in Chiang Mai. First, I recommend you visit Sanook Book. It's a site written by Chiang Mai families, for Chiang Mai families. Although you will just be visiting, Sanook Book has current event information which is not on most travel websites. Chiang Mai is the second largest province in Thailand. The Chiang Mai landscape is almost 70% mountains. It is home to seven of the ten highest mountain peaks in the country. This beautiful setting makes Chiang Mai a wonderful place to visit. When is the best time to visit? The answer to this question will vary from one family to the next. The cool season is the most popular time to visit, so demand is high which increases the cost for hotels, etc. If you want to lower your travel budget, then plan to visit Chiang Mai in June, July, or September. Very few travelers are brave enough to endure the heat and humidity during rainy season, therefore, hotels offer some excellent deals during that time of year. How about Chiang Mai weather?Chiang Mai is probably the coolest place in Thailand. I am talking about the weather, of course, but it is also the "coolest" place in Thailand. Thailand has three seasons and Chiang Mai is no exception. Cool Season in Chiang Mai runs from early or mid November until early March. The daytime temps are still quite warm, 80F-90F, but it cools down into the upper 50'sF at night. Even with the warm daytime temps, the humidity remains low, which makes it quite comfortable. Hot season runs from mid March to mid May. During this short time of year, temperatures soar to well over 100F during the day and only cool down to 80F-85F at night. Getting wet or staying inside are about the only ways to escape the heat in April. Even most local people will say it is hot. That's why the Songkran festival takes place from April 13-15, it is all about getting wet! Rainy season finishes out the rest of the year from mid-May until the end of October. Its called rainy season because it rains very often. The rain keeps everything green and it is really a beautiful time of the year to visit the "Lanna Kingdom", as Chiang Mai is sometimes called. It is up to you to decide when you want to bring your family on a vacation to Chiang Mai. Whenever, it is, we know you will have a great time. |
